5 New Looks with Fresh Spring Fashion from Madewell

Spring fashion has started to arrive in stores, which means new pieces to style!

During my latest shopping trip I stopped in Madewell to see what they had new for the season. If you've never shopped there and you're looking for well-made (see what I did there?) basics, it's a great option.

This time around I found five pieces to create looks with... a cardigan sweater, a puff sleeve midi dress, a peasant blouse, a mini shirtdress, and a matching blazer and pant set.

Look No. 1

My pic of the cardigan sweater does not do it justice. It's such a beautiful lavender color. You simply must see it in person.

I love this cardigan in lavender, it's the color for me. I also love the slight high-low cut. It comes in a neutral pearl shade too, just so you know. Pair it with a fitted dress (like a tank or slip dress) or denim or wear it to the office open with a pair of trousers and a tucked-in blouse.

I built an outfit with a fitted tee, blue straight leg jeans (these come in "curvy" so your waist doesn't gape), and the loafer I longed for as soon as I walked through the door! 

Look No. 2

I live in the country, so owning a floral dress is basically the law around these parts.

Sometimes I just want a girly dress... and this puff sleeve midi fits that description perfect. With my style aesthetic a floral dress is a closet staple... plus I live in the country. I really like the warm earthy shades and it has such a nice shape. I'd wear this with sneakers and run errands, change to a sandal for wine tasting or grabbing coffee with a friend. 

The cropped denim shirt I paired it with is great for A-line dresses, fitted dresses and high-waisted anything. A knit cardigan that has shape and style like this one works beautifully too. The block heel sandal I chose is a best seller, a great neutral shade and works with dresses, jeans, or trousers.

A little tip, Madewell has really fabulous quality leather goods... minimalism at its best.

Look No. 3

This peasant-style top is made from lightspun double-gauze cotton, so soft and comfortable

Tummy or no tummy, a top like this peasant blouse, that falls away from the body is comfortable and conceals. You'll want to keep your bottoms slim so your proportions are in check.

I wear ivory jeans all year round. The yellow bag adds a punch of spring color. Make sure if you wear a sandal or sneaker, there's a little peek of skin between the hem of the jeans and your shoe. It looks frumpy if they bump up against one another. 

Look No. 4

A shirtdress may be the most versatile piece in your spring wardrobe.

The fit on this dress is perfect... but busty gals... not for you. Lightweight linen is a great choice for travel or a nice option for staying cool when you don't want to wear shorts. Neutral sunglasses, sandals and a bag means you can wear these pieces with everything!

Look No. 5

If you're looking for a wear-all-day suit this is the one.

I'm sooo into this relaxed suiting... I just wish they'd had this jacket in my size in store, but alas...no. The runway look is loose and extra slouchy, but I would choose a size down (this is a medium, I'm typically a small). The pants were a regular size 4 and could be hemmed..... but the 4 petite I also tried was actually perfect! I'm 5'3". The blazer and pants come in a few different colors and a tall size as well.

I'd wear the pants with just a tank or tee on the weekend. they are high-waisted so a semi-cropped tank works beautifully. For work, add a cami to the jacket, or just grab a button-up or blouse. This look is what the stylish people are wearing right now. Bonus points for adding a sneaker and letting the hem slouch a little.
