Shop like a Queen on King St.
My husband and I spent the weekend in Old Town Alexandria, VA. If you've never visited, you must plan a getaway to this beautiful town!
Old Town is a shopper's paradise. With over 200 independently owned boutiques and shops, there's something for everyone on King Street, the main shopping district. From high-end fashion to quirky souvenirs, you're sure to find something to love.
Be sure to explore the side streets off of King too. There are some great hidden gems to be found there!

Summer to Fall fashion is here
While shopping in Old Town, I stopped by WHBM and Anthropologie to see what new pieces had just arrived.
Cute and sexy, this is not just a denim dress. It's a "shacket" dress. Wear it buttoned and fitted as I did here or open it up and wear it long and layered as a denim "duster". So flattering! I'd wear the dress with sneakers, flats, a strappy heel to make it sexy or heeled knee boots.

I love gray wash jeans and I love interesting details like the sailor-style buttons on this high-rise wide leg jean. Lots of stretch and the perfect weight for now and later, I'm wearing a 4 regular, TTS. They come in the color sandstone as well, the same color as the sweater I'm wearing here. These jeans look great with black shoes or brown...or a color or white or....they're versatile, lots of options.

I've been getting emails about how great these cotton pants are and finally tried them. It's a true story; they're great. A nice alternative to jeans the pret-a-pedi comes in 5 colors, regular, petite and curvy. It's a straight crop that's lightweight with some stretch. Pair them with a beautiful blouse (like any of these here, highly recommended) or a tee. I'm wearing a 4 in the pant and a small in the tops, all true to size.

There was a huge Anthropologie store too. I couldn't resist.

Maxi skirts and dresses are trending. I chose this one to share because the dark florals make it easy to wear now and later too. This beautiful skirt (I'm wearing a small) would look amazing with a silk blouse and heels/boots and pretty cool with a tee as well. This metallic tee touches on another trend that's still going strong...anything metallic. The tee is available in 4 fun shiny color options!

Of course you can dress up these cropped pleated trousers with a blouse, but I personally would love to see you try it with a cool band tee. I'm slightly obsessed with this graphic tee I paired with almost everything I tried. I'd finish this look with a pointed toe flat or a strappy heel-something that shows most of the top of the foot so you don't "cut off" the leg.

I just HAD to put these on. You know the current obsession with pink and Anthro bought into it with this classic pant style gone wild. Fashion should be fun, play a little! This is the Colette cropped style everyone crushes on jazzed up in a pink faux leather. Tone it down if you wish with a minimalist button-up, make them "pretty" with a floral blouse or do that graphic tee I showed you. You KNOW you're getting compliments on these bold pants, right?

If pink faux leather isn't for you, the original Colette wide-leg crop is back in stock in a bazillion colors/patterns and you really must try these. They're a best seller every season. They are available in standard, tall, petite and plus. Grab this polos sweater too, a new arrival you can wear buttoned as a top or left open cardigan-style. Size down in this sweater! Wear a flat now and a bootie or even a knee boot later.

I have something very similar to this black and white sweater skirt by Maeve. I wore it for a photo shoot recently as it's one of my favorites I've had for years. Everyone loved it, and asked for shopping links but it wasn't new. I was excited to walk into Anthro and see this one on display, a new arrival. Wear this skirt now with sandals and later with a semi-sheer black tight. White is an easy styling option, of course, but a color would be fun. I'm wearing a small, for reference.
