Once again my shopping mission for my monthly edit was crystal clear: to put together an everyday casual outfit, a dressy ensemble, and something ideal for the modern working woman.

During my time shopping for this month's Edit, most of which was spent in Banana Republic, I styled some fantastic outfits for your October wardrobe! I took my time trying on various pieces, feeling the fabrics, and ensuring the perfect fit for my recommendations.

Keep scrolling to see how I put all the pieces together...

I've been frequently featuring straight leg jeans, cropped bootcuts, and flares in my posts. I've deliberately avoided the oversized "baggy jean trend" because I understand it doesn't suit everyone. Personally, I find it easy to get bored and enjoy experimenting with fashion that deviates slightly from the norm. Take these loose jeans from Banana Republic, for example. They aren't excessively baggy or loose; they offer a relaxed and stylish fit.  Although the waist was slightly loose on me, a simple belt did the trick, and I didn't need any alterations. Since there's no stretch, I opted for a size 27 (typically I'm between 26/27) to achieve that laid-back feel.

Now, there's another trend dubbed "puddle jeans," where your pants pool over your shoes, even trailing on the ground. While I admire fashion risk-takers, I find this impractical and somewhat unappealing to think about what those jeans might be picking up. So, I settled for just a touch of extra length, allowing them to graze the ground slightly. If you're looking to try something new, these jeans won't break the bank either.

I was talking all about the jeans, but let's not forget the sweater! Usually, loose bottoms call for fitted tops, but with this outfit, I wanted something cozier. This cashmere polo-style sweater is not only soft but also excellent quality and reasonably priced. It comes in various pretty shades like blush, gray, and black, but I chose this shade of vanilla. The sweater is relaxed fit, true to size, but if you want a more tailored fit, go down a size.

I've been showcasing these boots because they work perfectly with so many outfits. Why buy more shoes than you need when you can buy a few pairs that are versatile and work with many different looks? These boots have just the right heel height and shaft length to meet all your needs. Plus, they're not black. Your boots don't always have to be brown or black.

What a find this satin shift dress from Banana Republic is - not overly short, tight, or pricey. You must see it... it's beautifully lined with silk. The rich green hue is a popular color at the moment too. The flower accessory, I purchased separately. It is detachable, trendy, and enjoyable. If it's not your style, no worries – you can leave it behind. And let's talk about the sleeves! Over forty-who doesn't appreciate a sleeve? I certainly do! The dress is true to size. I'm wearing a 4.

You already know that a heel or a classic pump, as well as a stylish flat, would complement this outfit perfectly. However, I decided to go for something unexpected and opted for the suede bootie from the Nordstrom6 October Drop collection. It not only fits snugly around the leg but also features a low heel, making it a stylish, comfortable choice. If you prefer not to go bare-legged, consider adding a touch of fun with fishnet tights or semi-sheer patterned hosiery – both options are fantastic and add extra intrigue to your look.

This silk blouse from Banana Republic is a must-have. Silk is exceptional; silk is opulence. Basically, make sure to include silk in your wardrobe. In the photo, the sleeve may seem a tad long, but it's easily adjustable – you can simply cuff it or have the cuff removed, shorten the sleeve, and reattach it.

Currently, I'm in a 'relaxed' phase with my style, which led me to opt for these loose trousers from Everlane. You've probably seen many people wearing these pleated relaxed trousers, right? They're fantastic, so comfortable. Pair them with a fitted tee, bodysuit, or even a sweatshirt (if you're tall), and you'll get plenty of use out of them. My belt is a favorite because it's reversible, featuring a brown side as well! It's a classic and I'll get years of wear out of it. Well worth the investment.
