My Jean Finds From Nordstrom Anniversary I’m Recommending You Add To Bag ASAP

I've been doing more shopping during Nordstrom Anniversary... this time for jeans... and wanted to share with you the styles and brands I'm recommending to my clients.

I've personally tried on many of these jeans and since I know the fit, fabric, and feel I'm confident you'll love them as much as I do!

Bootcuts are a classic style, always in fashion, but sometimes we push them to the back of the closet and favor other trends. This year bootcuts ARE a trend again.

Cropped and full length, there are many in the sale. Try the gray cropped version of the AG. Hudson and Joe’s have been perfecting bootcut jeans for decades. I also fell in love with a black wash Veronica Beard pair once I tried them on!

 
I probably don’t have to tell you that bootcut jeans look great with BOOTS of all sorts. They also look pretty with stiletto heels and sandals. Bootcut jeans are known for balancing a woman’s hips beautifully.

We haven’t heard a lot about “boyfriend jeans” lately because now they’re mostly just being called “relaxed” or “wide straight legs”. They are still in style and in fact designers like Rag & Bone and AG added a few new styles to the ‘23 Sale. The AG sold out quickly! Consider trying the Kut from the Kloth Catherine boyfriend jean. It’s a recurring style that I’ve been confidently putting in dressing rooms for over a decade.

I like adding a cuff to show the ankles when styling boyfriend jeans and then wearing a loafer, oxford, ballet flat or sneaker. Then you can wear something casual like a T-shirt, a button up, sweatshirt, or a crewneck sweater.

 
I also like to wear this style almost touching the floor, and then add a stiletto or heeled boot of some sort. In this case, I prefer to wear something a little more feminine, or a silky blouse… tops that are a little more dressed up.

There are quite a few designers adding skinnies to this year's anniversary sale. You’ve probably been told that they are “out”. Just like anything else, they’re set to be popular again and were seen on the runways for fall and winter.
 
Skinny jeans should always be a staple in your closet, as there are some looks that just need a slimmer proportion. Western boots and knee boots in general are hot hot hot and a big part of the Nordstrom anniversary sale. Those knee boots look best with skinny jeans. Western boots deserve to be shown off so tucking a skinny jean into the boot is the way to go!

Skip the big, bulky sweaters and tunics, and wear a more stylish, slightly oversized blazer, button-up or some sort of cool new jacket... unbuttoned.

Good American skinnies felt nice and soft, stretchy, and not at all uncomfortable. Joe’s are crazy soft and stretchy too. I prefer high waisted styles because they catch on the hip and won’t slide down easily once they stretch with wear. When worn correctly they are quite flattering!

The inventory on slim/straight-leg styles is getting pretty… slim. This is a hugely popular style this year as it is easy for anyone to pull off. You get a tailored denim look without the jeans being skin tight.

One way I like to wear my straight jeans is to cover the top of a heeled ankle boot and have the hem just hit at the ankle. If I’m going to wear a flat shoe with a straight leg jeans, I prefer it be cropped ABOVE the ankle so there’s a break between the hem and the shoe. Straight leg jeans that touch the top of your flat shoes can look a little dowdy.

Wear any top you wish with a straight leg style! Good American, AG, Hudson, Joe’s are fantastic premium brands, and they are all available in the Nordstrom Sale!

Wide leg jeans are a having trendy comeback!

There are lots of options in the NSale. There are also plenty left and I think that’s because they can be tough to style… if you’re average to petite in height. Personally I want as much length in this style as I can get, to make me appear taller, and balanced. I like the hem to almost touch the floor. Get your wide legs hemmed if necessary or take advantage of today’s trendy raw hems and just cut them yourself. 

A block or platform heel is also a great option for adding height with these jeans. If you really prefer a lower heel height, wear a pointed, square or almond toe shoe, not round.

Unless you’re tall, a stiletto heel feels too dainty. If you ARE long-legged, you can wear a loafer, flat, bootie, stiletto... the choice is yours.
Short or tall-wide leg jeans look best with a slim fitting top or blazer that doesn’t fall past your hip bone. Hope that helps!
