My take on cottagecore
The cottagecore look tends to be more youth-oriented and super-trendy. With my outfit, I was going for a tone down, mild cottagecore-inspired feel that us adults would wear.
I'm not a big fan of the long billowy, over-the-top prairie style dresses... but I do like “moderately puffy” sleeves, cotton flowy bottoms and a wooden heeled sandal.
Needless to say... I won’t be roaming the prairies or herding sheep in this outfit anytime soon, but it’s awfully cute for a day out on the town.
So what about my cottagecore-inspired look that I'm sharing with you today?...
The pull on Daphne skirt from Faherty is reversible and made from sustainable material. It looks great with my puff sleeve denim shirt by Frame. I paired the top and bottom with the Rory platform sandals. They have a wooden bottom that can be a little loud on a hard floor... no worries though, there are pads you can put on the bottoms of the shoe to soften the blow.

What is cottagecore?
If you're not familiar with the cottagecore fashion trend... aka prairiecore... aka farmcore... I'll sum it up for you this way... it's a romanticized version of how one might dress living in the country... an idealized rural wardrobe... perhaps on a farm... basically, it's a stylish "Little House on the Prairie" vibe.

PAIGE

So, is cottagecore still popular in 2022?
While the cottagecore aesthetic, dressing in puffy sleeve shirts and flowy prairie skirts, has been around for quite some time, the current style trend started gaining in popularity around 2018. And now with more and more brands offering prairie-inspired fashion pieces for this season the look is sure to be popular again in 2022.
