Last week I was in Seattle and San Diego visiting with my stylists friends. We call our little girl gang the Nordstrom6. We all have a commonality of being (or having been) professional personal stylists with Nordstrom.
When we get together, we descend upon the local Nordstrom stores and shopping scene. We talk style, trends, work on our business plan and try on lots of new pieces to find things we love and want to share. This time, we focused on denim.

These slim, cropped jeans are cut from supersoft Italian stretch denim that are ripped and hand-sanded for a naturally well-loved look from day one.
Almost everyone loves denim. It goes with anything, SHOULD be comfortable and even the best brands are affordable. Denim trends come and go. New designers emerge on the scene… so it’s always fun to find out what does and doesn’t work for us individually.
I say it’s fun but I find a lot of my clients HATE denim shopping… because they haven’t found THEIR best cut and brand. It was funny because three of us stylists are the same size and of similar height, yet we definitely did not like all the same pairs.

Good Girlfriend High Waist Straight Leg Jeans

These roomy straight-leg jeans are cut from premium stretch denim and designed with a gap-proof contoured waistband to flatter every curve.
Me, I’m 5’3 and typically a size 4. I carry some body fat in my thighs and have a little chunky spot right under my tush that I’m sensitive about. Even when I was a skinny string bean of a teenager, I had a bubble butt! I do not like jeans that hug (and squeeze) my thighs.
A couple of the girls were telling me I needed to size down… but I know my body, know my taste, know which designers work for ME. One of the stylists (built like me) agreed with my preferences. She also likes to add a little style and edge to her own looks. I tell you that because… see… we’re all different and that’s okay!

Le High Straight Leg Jeans

Look as good as you feel in these ankle jeans designed with shapely stretch in a classic wash.
All that to say I found a few pairs that I’d never tried before. I really liked the rigid (less stretch) Agolde Riley and the relaxed Good American I tried. When it comes to more fitted styles, I really really love Fidelity for its booty-lift (without squeezing). I also find Frame to sculpt my derrière nicely.

While Rag & Bone isn’t always the best for me and my ample bottom, I tried on a pair anyway. They looked like jeans but definitely were NOT. They are a high-waisted tapered style (my favorite) made out of rayon! I didn’t intend to buy new “jeans” and these are an investment… but these I had to have.
