Working with a professional stylist can make all the difference for your look
This is how I measure my success. It's not about stuff, wealth, followers. I'm counting smiles and this lady right here added a whole lot to my resume. I got a call from a friend that said I needed to introduce myself to Karyn. She'd been laid up with a surgery for a while and was feeling a little blue...and frumpy. I gave her look and her style a kick in the pants. See what we did...
It's not often that someone so easily allows me to share a photo of her "before" with no makeup for all the world to see. Okay...don't worry Karyn with a "y"... it's not really the whole world.
As I was working with Karyn, I kept telling her we need to get the red out of her skin and add a little smidge of bronzer then EVERYthing will look better on you. She let me do just that and what a difference. Farmasi for the win. I made the red vanish, I brought the deep blue-green out of her eyes, gave her a youthful blush... and DANG...isn't she beautiful?!

BEFORE
It went like this. "Turn around for me, Karyn. I'm going to let you decide if they look good." I'm famous for that. She told me she wore these pants in a family picture and we decided to just let that go LOL. She was working that Kate Spade prissy thing and that's fine.... but we added some edge to her look. I also told her to NOT wear that color near her face unless she had a nice even complexion and a little bronze-y glow first. P.S. the above pic was the BEFORE.
AFTER
First, I dug into her closet. We got rid of stuff, not a TON... because I really do want my clients to keep as much as possible. We decided to alter some things. The things we decided to donate or consign... we thoroughly discussed WHY they didn't work for her.
Then, we put outfits together (so many outfits) from what was left and took photos for her to reference later. While we were styling outfits, we made a list of what was actually missing from her wardrobe.... what she needed to complete her looks. These were all her clothes... fabulous pieces hanging in her closet that she just had no idea how to wear "properly". THIS is the outfit she wore for this year's family photo.
Next, we went shopping! I found her modern pieces that fit well and worked in the wardrobe she already had. We crossed off the items from her list and found just about every one. Some things will have to wait for the spring...like tees and tanks. We went over color combos, proportions, and all the different ways to wear each piece. Do you even recognize her from that "before" pic?
I found her a pretty blue satin blouse that worked perfectly with her eyes and her skin tone. She needed a cool relaxed blazer and this plaid works with so many things. The sleek ankle boot is keeping her looking lean and clean.

A "sweater and jeans" is pretty typical winter style but we took it up a notch. The fair isle pattern that rings her neck is done in "her" colors and visually slims her top half. The jeans are actually velvet, with a little kick flare hem and will always be in style. She was able to use her own champagne-colored belt that had been tucked away in her drawer to do a little subtle metal-mixing. I mean...I am so proud... so proud of all we did together Karyn. I cannot thank you enough for giving me a chance to bring some joy back into your wardrobe and put a confident smile on your face. Now....who is next?
