I Shopped Nordstrom in NYC During Fashion Week 2022 – Here Are Some of the Looks I Styled

Nordstrom x NYC Fashion Week, need I say more?

Last week I took a train to New York City to get a taste of Fashion Week. I met another stylist friend and we visited the Nordstrom NYC East Coast Flagship location in Manhattan.

I spent time walking around the store especially searching for brands I wasn't used to seeing in person. I wanted to find pieces that were special but not over-the-top. 

I was actually a little bit overwhelmed by the immense selection at the NYC store, so I narrowed my focus to finding a "wearable" jacket, dress, skirt, top and pants. Of course once I found the perfect pieces, I headed to the dressing room.

I wore one of my favorite (old) pleated skirts from home with sneakers for exploring the city streets. Just so happened it paired perfectly with this jacket that got my immediate attention. That butterscotch color in a faux leather... felt incredible... truly perfection. The sleeves are permanently ruched so you don't have to fuss with them. Me - I always push my sleeves up.

Let's try on a romantic dress. I saw a ton of gorgeous dresses and found this one easy to wear. That navy base means you can wear this floral pattern year round. It's sold as an off-the shoulder dress but you can certainly wear it like a crewneck. If I'd had more time I would have grabbed a belt. 

I think our first instinct is to add a relaxed cardigan to this as a layer... that's the "style". That's fine, but I think it's more fun to add a shiny, hip blazer instead. Of course a brown or ivory boot would be great addition here too.

Esme Off the Shoulder Long Sleeve Silk Midi Dress by Sea

Delightful flowers bloom sweetly on this shoulder-baring maxi crafted from rich silk.

I wanted to find a top I could wear with that fab faux leather blazer and also sweaters, etc so I chose this short-sleeve blouse perfect for layering with all the beautiful colors ready for autumn. I pulled a 4, but I think a 2 would've been better, actually. 

Then, there is this cotton twill skirt. Midi-skirts make life easy. I don't have to wear tights and I can add flats, boots... doesn't matter. This goldenrod color works year-round and the fabric is not too light or heavy. I love the waist cinching tie belt.

Therese Cotton Twill Midi Skirt by Sea

A tie belt defines the waist of this cotton twill midi skirt popped with pleats and useful pockets.

The jacket and blouse played well together, so I decided to add a comfortable pair of pants. You will live in this pull-on sporty style pant! They are labeled "cropped" but my 5'3" frame makes them full-length. Hem them if need be. I only found a medium available in the store, and it was perfect.  

Wear these versatile pants with street sneakers (as in, NOT gym sneakers), or with pumps, mules, ankle boots... it's your call.
