I styled a dozen summer date night looks for women over forty...
Oh my, July flew by and August is almost half over...just like that... how did that happen?! Luckily we still have another month of summertime according to the calendar.
With warmer weather still around for at least a few more weeks I went out looking for pieces I could have fun styling in a few different ways that would make great summer date outfits for us ladies over forty.

This look was the wild card. It's a sexy little number. I love lavender so I had to try this top. I couldn't get the sleeves to stay up as planned, but I felt sassy with it off the shoulder so I let it ride. Other things may be falling but my shoulders are standing firm. I grabbed some light wash jeans to try and they were a good fit. My gold sandals have been working overtime with so many outfits and go perfect with this one.

I think you can tell I prefer color. I like putting on a shade that makes my eyes pop and my skin glow. That doesn't happen in black or beige, nope. This gorgeous maxi dress enhances the waist. The back has a nice deep V to show off your back. I found that if you don't want it that low, it can be brought together with a few stitches by our alterations department. The jacket is a work of art.

A lot of my personal style clients don't wear shorts. I, too, am getting to that age where I want my hemlines a little lower on the leg. A Bermuda short AKA walking short can be quite cute if paired with fun pieces. This is a simple sophisticated look that doesn't scream dull.

Give me some loose comfy pants and I'll show you several ways to wear them. You could also make them office appropriate with a blazer. Add a tee for the weekend. Wear something fitted and maybe even show some skin if you're feeling "extra". I'm loving the pants with that trendy slit on the leg. The sweater I'm wearing in this look is so pretty up close and comes in a pretty green shade too. I am always on the hunt for a "non-boring" cardigan.

Talk about color! Here's a little color-blocking "lite". The top and bottom do not match but complement one another beautifully. They are similar in tone so the look stays soft. I want you to go into your closet and try to find shades that work but don't match. You'll open up a world of possibilities. Now you might be thinking "What shoe would I wear with two different colors?" A neutral white, nude or metallic saves the fretting.

If you follow along with fashion trends you have probably seen women over forty showing a sliver of skin in a crop top! Now, had I been standing straight you wouldn't even see my tummy because of the high-waisted pants. Adding a jacket over top makes the look more conservative. Do you see how I'm mixing these earth tones? You don't have to wear a white top with everything. I'm wearing an xsmall and could have even gone to an xxsmall in these pants.

I'm going to get lots of looks out of this skirt. It's eyelet (typically a summer fabric) done in a rich rust color (typically reserved for fall). It's perfect for spring right through fall. Heck, I'd wear it in the winter too. I'm trying it out with a denim jacket and another trend you're seeing everywhere...western boots. This pair of boots I've had for years. I live in the country, so cowboy boots are an everyday thing here anyway. I found a few pairs that are really similar to mine and I've linked them below.

A denim vest... say what?! Yes, I did that. I took a "sorta fancy" dress and gave it a rugged vibe. This is an old denim jacket that I took scissors to one day and made myself a fun outfit third piece. I added yet another layer in there with this beautiful shoulder bag that can be worn three ways!

Looking for a step up from jeans and a tee shirt....but not too far? This tangerine tank is a cutie and p.s. just went on sale. Orange and animal just belong together so I added the leopard print belt. Ankle boots used to be a cold weather item only but not anymore! A pointed toe works best with a long, flared pant. See how great that bag looks with denim? It's a must.
